The Finals were held at Fort Stamford on 21st March.
I would like to thank Royston for hosting the event and also the markers on the night, David Morris & David Hughes.
This is the first time that I have been to Fort Stamford running a Devon Cup Event.
There was plenty of support on the night even without a glass backed court. Good use of step up equipment meant that plenty of people had a good view.
The order of play was 5,3,1,4,2
The match of the night was between Tony Tremain v Ben Rogers.
The overall match score being 1-1 meant that Tony needed to win to take Fort Stamford into the lead. Unfortunately Tony lost 5-11 in the 5th giving the overall match score 1-2. Duncan was on next taking a 3-0 win against Pete Whiteley bringing the match score to 2-2. If only Tony had won!
Then Mike Gregory for D&E taking the last match 3-1 to win the Devon Cup.

The picture below of the D&E team with a stand in trophy and a picture of the original trophy. This is due to the main trophy being mislaid. It has now been found and hopefully now in the hands of D&E.
The Plate Final was between Exeter University v Newton Abbot. There was one very lengthy match and it was good to see that they had a big audience watching them. This was between Joel Bricknell & Adam Smart with Joel winning eventually 3-2.
The other matches went to Exeter University giving them an overall victory to win the Devon Plate.
Exeter University have now won this event 3 years in a row! And with 3 of the same players!
